Where can I get support?
Will Gear Up be Free-2-Play?
We will release three different versions of the game. A free demo, a basic version and a premium version. They will be compatible and the only difference will be that the basic and premium versions have more features. At the moment there are no plans for microtransactions.
I bought Gear Up: Basic, can I upgrade to Gear Up: Premium?
Yes, if you already own the basic version you will get a discount equal to the value of the basic version when you add Gear Up: Premium to your Steam shopping cart and proceed to Steam checkout.
What are the minimum specifications?
Alpha minimum specifications:
- OS: Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 or Windows 8
- Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Althon X2 2.7 GHz
- RAM: 2GB
- Graphic card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card, ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher.
- Graphics card memory: 512 MB
- Sound card: Any supported by the OS
- Hard drive: 1 GB
The game will only run on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows 7. The reason is that we found that DirectX 11 run ~20% faster than DirectX 9 on the same hardware and there are a lot less incompatibilities with DX11. We might support Windows XP later but no decision have been taken yet.
Will Gear Up be available on PS3, iPhone, Android, etc?
Our engine is running on iOS so we are thinking about releasing a free app where you can build vehicles, browse stats etc. It is possible that we port the game to consoles if the game is a success.
Is your game built with game engine X or Y?
Gear Up is fully built with our own in-house developed engine Traktor!
How do I earn “G” to buy new parts?
You start off with 5 G and earn more by playing Gear Up multiplayer games. You specifically earn G in the following ways:
1 G for Participating
1 G per 10 Kills
1 G per 5 Captures (in Conquest game mode)
2 G for Winning
How many parts can I own with the free version of Gear Up?
To start with, the free version can own 10 parts in total, at the same time. You start off with 4 parts and 5 G. You unlock room for one more part each time you reach a new experience level. Also, you can always sell parts that you don’t use and buy new from the whole range of parts in the Parts Store.
Can I sell parts?
Yes! You can sell all parts except the initial 4 parts you always start off with. Select the item you want to sell in the Parts Store and click the red “Sell” button. You will recover some of the G you used to buy the part.
What happened to all the parts I had before the update?
To test the Vehicle Parts Store and the G system, all parts earned up until now had to be reset. We understand that this can come as a shock to some players, but again we must recognize that the game is not finished and needs further testing.
I have the premium version of Gear Up, how come I don’t see the parts store?
First off, a BIG thank you for supporting our small indie studio by purchasing the premium version! With the premium version, you immediately have access to all parts in the game and can build your tank directly in the “Build Vehicle” menu option.
I have network problems, which ports are required for Gear Up?
If you experinece network problems and get disconnected a lot or see many red monitors in the lobby it might be good to check that your firewall or router is not blocking the Steam P2P Networking. Please check the following ports:
- UDP 3478 (Outbound)
- UDP 4379 (Outbound)
- UDP 4380 (Outbound)
